Something happened last week that I have not been able to stop thinking about.
I was cleaning out my office and I found an old piece of paper with my goals. Things I had written down years ago and then kind of forgot about. Things that felt big and far away at the time. 📝
When I read through it, I could not believe how much had actually happened.
Every single one of them!
And finding that piece of paper sent me straight home to my boys. I sat down with Logan (15) and Oliver (8), and we did the same thing. They put pen to paper and wrote out their summer goals. Watching them actually think about what they want and get excited about it was one of those moments that just gets you. 🥹
I shared in the video about something I say to my QuickBooks students all the time:
We overestimate what we can do in a day and underestimate what we can do in a year.
That is true for goals, and it’s true for your QuickBooks, too.
You might be looking at your books right now, thinking you are so far behind. That it is too messy. That you do not even know where to start.
But I promise you this. If you pick one thing to focus on this summer, just one area, one mistake to clean up, you will be amazed at where you are by September.
One thing. That is all I am asking.
Give yourself some grace. ✨

Oh I can so relate. About 7 years ago my housemate and I decided we were tired of living in a 2 bedroom 1 bathroom apartment. No space. One night we wrote up what our dream house would look like. It was such an unrealistic list and laughable. Everything was documented, even what we would pay. I own a bookkeeping business and he worked as a subcontractor making very little money. We laughed and I filed this list in an old binder. Fast forward 3 years from this and we purchased a mobile home and forgot about the list. More space and community. A few years later I found that list. We got everything except a fireplace and a backyard where we could have chickens!
