Ever wonder what you actually need to be doing for your bookkeeping on a weekly, monthly, quarterly, and yearly basis?
It is one of the most common questions I get.
So instead of just answering it, I made you a resource you can keep and use all year.
It is the Essential Bookkeeper Checklist, and we put it together with you in mind.
If we have not met yet, hi, I’m Candus. I’m a business owner, not an accountant, and I love helping both business owners and bookkeepers feel confident in QuickBooks. Come look over my shoulder.
Why a checklist:
When you are running the books for your own business, the hardest part is usually not any single task. It is remembering what to do and when, so nothing slips through the cracks and you are not scrambling at a deadline. A simple checklist takes all of that out of your head and puts it on paper. You stop wondering if you forgot something, because you can see the whole rhythm in one place.
What is inside:
The checklist breaks your bookkeeping into four simple rhythms:
- Weekly. The small, regular tasks that keep your books current so they never pile up.
- Monthly. The month-end routine that keeps your numbers clean and ready to look at.
- Quarterly. The check-ins that keep you ahead of deadlines instead of behind them.
- Yearly. The year-end essentials so tax time is calm instead of a panic.
I am not going to walk through every single page here, because the whole point is that you can download it and keep it. We also have additional guides that go deeper on the things you need to know, the deadlines, and the steps behind each one, so you do not miss anything.
A few extra resources:
I also pulled together a resources page with my favorite books, journals, and decks, just some extra things I thought you would enjoy. You can find that here: canduskampfer.com/resources
